Repairs to
Pier CAD-A
Cheatham Annex, Williamsburg, VA
The Naval Weapons Station Yorktown – Cheatham Annex Facility (Cheatham
Annex) is a 1,579-acre federal facility located outside of Williamsburg,
in York County, Virginia. The facility is located adjacent to the York
River approximately 15 miles upstream of the Chesapeake Bay.
Precon
Marine, Inc. was contracted to perform the repairs to
Pier CAD-A at the Cheatham Annex. After a pre-construction survey was
conducted, Precon replaced 1,712 LF of timber piles, 490 BF of 3”x10”
timber bracing members and replaced a total of 1567 fiberglass bolts.
As part of the contract, all delaminated concrete was repaired with polymer
modified, cement-based, one component mortar; 72 SF of spall repairs on
top deck and 200 SF of spall repairs below deck. All concrete cracks were
cleaned and filled with polyurethane: a total of 166 feet of cracks below
deck were repaired. The top surface of the concrete deck was sealed with
a surface applied penetrating sealer and 10 expansion joints were replaced.
6230 SF of rail slots were filled with concrete and 22 life rings were
installed.
